Gratitude for a Final Gesture

The closure of a Lodge and the return of its warrant is always an emotional time but our members should use situations such as these to look for positive opportunities. This should certainly include the strengthening of other Lodges but can also be instances of generosity towards the less fortunate.

The final meeting of Castle Eden Lodge of Mark Master Masons No.930 was recently held with the Deputy Provincial Grand Master in Charge, W Bro David Hanson, in attendance to receive the returned warrant. Whilst this could be perceived as a sad occasion, the meeting was definitely a celebration of the life of the Lodge which had been in existence since 1934. As a last final gesture of Masonic benevolence, the Lodge donated the proceeds of their festive board raffle, a total of £133, to the Durham 2029 MBF Festival.

We are very grateful for this donation, Castle Eden Lodge. Thank you.

Charity is a distinguishing characteristic of a Freemason's heart. Thankfully, the members of Castle Eden Lodge are moving on to join other Lodges to help carry this on.
